I wont bore with my life story -yet ;)- so long story short. I like baking. Wait... I adore baking, and cooking for that matter. One of the most rewarding parts to making anything is sharing it with other people, and I feel that I need to share it with more people then just those who eat it, so I have decided to share it with the internet - in hope that someone sees it... So please enjoy my creations... the good and bad ^_^ |
Pumpkin Biscuits ~ 30th October 2012.
Happy Halloween!!
Well seeing as it is Halloween tomorrow, I think it would be rude if I was to not make some Halloween themed bake. So I did some biscuits because they’re great to dunk in tea, and easy to make. I failed when it came to making them pumpkin shape, as I was lacking a shaped cookie cutter, so I used a scone cutter and nipped in the centres - didn’t turn out too bad. And the chocolate topping is amazing, it’s orange flavoured, and wow it does taste of orange.
Mince Tartlets ~ 30th October 2012.
For days I have been waiting for the December issue of the Good Food Magazine to come out and it got delivered today. Rather angry that the postman folded it, but there we go. Anyway, after reading through it I was in a complete christmas mood, so I thought it right that I have a go at making mince pies - in tartlet tins. However, I got to the supermarket to discover they didn’t stock any jarred mincemeat, and nor did I have a recipe for it. So I guessed what went into it, and luckily when I got home I have everything that I needed.
I think they turned out rather cute to be honest, and also my Mum said that they even tasted like mincepies, which is always a bonus.
Banoffee Pies ~ 21st October 2012.
Mine and Ben’s favourite dessert ever is Banoffee Pie! We love the stuff. So we decided we would make some, we pottered down to the supermarket and bought all that we needed. And then went back to his house to make them. This was only the second time I’ve ever made my own caramel, and I must admit the first time I burnt it, so was rather scared this time round but I didn’t burn it :D I was really proud to be honest. And with Ben’s epic idea of chopping up the bananas and putting them in with the cream was amazing!
Cinnamon and Hazelnut Cookies ~ 19th October 2012.
It was rather late one evening, and I wanted something to dunk in my tea, and there were no biscuits. So I was obviously ”forced” to make some! And our cupboards were very limited, so I was forced to flavour them with cinnamon and hazelnuts. Which proved beneficial for me as the majority of people in my house don’t like hazelnuts! All the more for me then! :D
Chilli & Cumin Burger, with Tomato Salsa, Edam Cheese on a Multi grain Roll ~ 19th October 2012.
Today was another day where I was going to make dinner for myself… and no one else ;)
So treated myself to a homemade burger, bought a nice roll and some edam cheese from the cheese counter. It was all very very lush! And instead of ketchup I thought I’d make a salsa, and it made a really nice change to be honest!
This was actually one of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted in a while - though can not beat Thereas’ homemade burgers!
Pepper Filled with Curried Vegetable Rice on a Herby Salad ~ 10th October 2012.
For tonights dinner I wanted to go vegetarian -really I wanted to go full time vegetarian- so I headed to the supermarket without any idea of what I was going to do. So I walked around picking up random things and throwing them in my basket. I decided on stuffed peppers, having never had one before. Not really having any idea how to do them, I assumed they couldn’t be too hard. It was amazing to be honest, rather proud of being able to throw things together :L
Patchwork Cake ~ 7th October 2012.
My step Mum -Paula- posted a link on my Facebook, of a picture of this amazing cake someone made, which was covered in many different sweets and chocolates. I was going up to my Dads for the weekend, and Paula suggested that we should have a crack at making one. So she bought loads of toppings, and after a bottle of wine, I made a quick sponge, and then after more wine, me and Paula had a whale of a time decorating it! With blue and pink sugar, chocolate squares, chocolate buttons and chocolate sticks and chocolate fingers. It was amazing!!
Chicken Tikka Masala ~ 29th Sept 2012.
I’ve finally done it, I’ve made a proper curry using spices. No sauces or pastes. It’s what I’ve been wanting to do for months now.
It tasted amazing, only bad point was Thereas only had hot chilli powder, so it was a tad hot. But I don’t mind spicy food.
Jack Daniels Birthday Cake ~ 27th Sept 2012.
Ben asked me if I would make his friend an 18th birthday cake. Of course I would! Silly question really. Thinking about what I could make him, I thought what does everyone get for their 18th? Alcohol. Seeing as I can’t buy it, I thought I’d make it instead. Now my attempt was rather crude but it kind of looked like it was meant to. When we presented it to the birthday boy he was rather shocked to say the least.
Homemade Oreos ~ 26th Sept 2012.
It was my turn to make the cake for my double Psychology lesson. I asked someone from my class what I should make and he said oreos. And that it was my heart was set on making them then. I found a recipe and it looked simple. Oh my Lord it turned out to be the MESSIEST thing I have ever made in my entire life! Never got so much chocolate better everywhere before :L
The recipe also said: makes 16 - 18 sandwiches. How many did I make? Over 25…. How I’ll never know. Some of the first ones came out kind of burnt, so I did the third batch and they came out a lot better, so those were the ones which I took to school, and I left all the burnt ones with the boyfriend!
Everyone in my class loved them! We had an exam over our double, and we were half way through the exam when someone asked the teacher if he could come get another one! I thought it was hilarious!
